Designed as a romantic getaway retreat for couples, our beautiful range of huts have been locally handcrafted by olivershuts.co.uk and are the perfect escape. Located within beautiful Nidderdale in the small village of Birstwith on the outskirts of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, guests are in the perfect location to explore the surrounding countryside or simply admire the views.

As a couple we have tried to think of all the little touches we would like and expect from a luxury glamping experience whilst also being sensitive to our retreat ethos of simplicity, authenticity and being close to nature whilst still enjoying home comforts and a little indulgence.

Shepherd’s Huts

Samuel & Martha, our 18-foot-long Shepherd’s Huts were named after the couple who built our beautiful Nidd House Farm. After falling in love with the history of the farmhouse, we liked the idea of adding a touch of nostalgia and romance so named our huts after the couple who built it.

Both of these huts contain a double bed, kitchen area (electric hob, fridge, and small Belfast sink), seating, and a bathroom with a shower and flushing toilet but are styled differently inside to add character and individuality. There is a hand built oak table and bench seats for comfy reading, playing board games, listening to music or gazing out across the fields, as well as a fold down wall bed which can be lifted to reveal the table and seating area.

Each of the Shepherd’s Huts also has exclusive use of its own private Hikki Bohemen outdoor bath tub.

The Bothy Moorhouse

This hut is our latest addition to Haystacks Country Retreats which provides the same cosy feel as our smaller Shepherd’s Huts but with the extra space and a few extra luxurious touches. 

Featuring full-height windows, a black tin exterior and full insulation for year-round use, this spacious retreat combines the inspiration of a traditional bothy with contemporary Scandinavian design. The 21-foot hut includes a separate bedroom area with a double bed, kitchen area (microwave, electric hob, small Belfast sink and fridge), fully upholstered corner seating area and bathroom with shower among other impressive features. This accommodation is also pet-free.

We have space for parking a short walk from the huts and provide wheelbarrows for you to transfer luggage from your vehicle to the hut.

The beds will be fully made up with soft bed linen and cosy blankets so you don’t have to make the bed each day.

There’s nothing better than a real fire so inside each hut there is a wood burning stove with a supply of wood for you to light – to enjoy on a cosy rainy day and cold evenings, as well as fairy lights and cosy blankets.

Our price includes a welcome tray filled with Yorkshire goodies, locally sourced breakfast ingredients for your first morning (should you wish to cook) as well as logs for the wood burner and wood fired outdoor bath tub.
